Dining Out
Agua Dulce

This is far more than your average Spanish restaurant or tapas house. The owner, Carlos, previously ran La Rueda - one of South London’s most renowned Spanish restaurants – so he brings with him a wealth of culinary and hospitality experience to Brighton’s Agua Dulce restaurant.

Between us we managed to try a bit of almost everything from the extensive and truly authentic menu. The traditional, southern Spanish cuisine, including Andalusian pigs’ trotters, certainly doesn’t patronise English taste buds. The strong patatas ali-oli, the mojopicón, and the calamari are highlights which shouldn’t be overlooked. And I’ve never tasted better mussels. Fact.

I continued with the seafood theme with the Dorada a la Almeriense, which consists of sea bream pan fried in olive oil, bay leaves, paprika and white wine. My dining guest chose Pollo a la crema de almendras, baked chicken in a creamy almond sauce, which was described as "incredible.”

For dessert we opted for the beautiful (and very alcoholic) Tiramisu and the baked apple and cinnamon, which were both hand-made to an excellent standard.

The superior quality of the food and the wine list, combined with the attentive service of the friendly team, will keep you going back to this restaurant time and again. You’ll love both the authentic flavours and the prices at Agua Dulce.

Ole Ole

Ole Ole It's situated in a basement on the New Steine just off of St James Street Brighton. The staff were very friendly and immediately started bringing out tapas for me to try before I had even ordered any , they were eager for me to try different dishes I took an actress friend Charmaine Davies .Charmain ate more than me as I don't eat meat only fish, Saying that she wasn't complaining and enjoyed all of the dishes .The food was well presented and tasty and I am told there chef once worked with Gordon Ramsay ! The manager told me I would have to wait a while to try the vegetable paella so I did. I couldn't work out why it was more expensive than the seafood version the vegetable one being £11.30 on the menu and the seafood one £9.95. It was tasty I also tasted the salmon with caviar (£8.30) .Tapas are just £2.75 or £5.35 for a portion and A la carte various prices between £6.30 and £11.30 (the veg paella) I could clearly see they had developed loyal customers and friends of the venue that hang out there The calamari was served cooked in white wine with onions unlike the traditional way, The menu is not too vast and very simple yet stylish.

There are, 2 deserts on the menu (cold) a cinnamon rice pudding and a creme brulee which were both very good All tapas were to a high standard and the specials very good particularly the deep fried brie. All a trendy twist on tradition, !_ The venue excels on atmosphere ! In the corner they have placed a stage area where flamenco dance captivates the patrons along with spanish singers It's a all hands on deck affair as the singer Alberto is also a waiter as I'm sure are others . The showmanship and atmosphere and madness are all what makes this a destination to be at. There were customers coming in just to drink at the bar all were welcome to sit if there were empty tables The staff were all young and stylish, the owner himself having dreadlocks down his back and had such a laid back demeanor you'd never guess he was the joint governor .An ex model named Maria ensured we were looked after .So to sum up it was tasty friendly and full of atmosphere

attitude™ | ENERGY DRINK | REVIEW
When I was asked to try out Attitude, the new, natural energy drink, I said ‘yes’ with a degree of trepidation. In my experience, energy drinks have a notoriously horrid, chemical taste and always end up making me feel like I’ve overdosed on coffee (and I’m a caffeine addict!)

Attitude has changed all that. When I opened up my first can there was a pleasant aroma, which was a refreshing change. The taste buds were also in for a treat with a fresh, fruity, floral flavour and absolutely no hint of additives. It actually reminded me of the fruit teas commonly drunk in the Mediterranean or southern Asia. The buzz that Attitude gives you kicks in fairly quickly, and doesn't leave you with that numbed head feeling that other leading energy drinks have a reputation for.

So this means I have found my non-alcoholic drink of the summer but, of course, I’ll be trying it with a shot of vodka of an evening.
